Abstract
Decision-making is a vital function of top-level management among other managerial functions. Most of the cases it is found that the management takes decisions in a radical way when it faces any kind of problem and always tries to rectify to achieve the organisational goal. But there exists other situations where the organisation takes decisions when it finds opportunity to bring prosperity into its business. Apart from this the new business enterprise again looks for opportunities where it can starts its own operation. There are very few but iconic companies in world over like IBM, Boeing, Microsoft, and TATA Motors, who have successfully looked into the opportunity as their pass towards growth. But at recent it is ITC, which has successfully found out agribusiness as an opportunity for its business to grow and the bold decision from Mr. Y. C. Deveswar made the project a grand success, even though the company was not facing any kind of problem in its operation. The article is an inside look into the hypothesis: "In the present day competitive market, opportunity has overshadowed the Problem in the decision making process", and it is very well supported by the ITC's EChoupal initiative.
