Abstract

Colonialism has had its foot prints not only in terms of cultrual transplants, but also in legislative tradition and legal imperialism. English law has been one of the British empire's most sucessful export. English law has been the foundation of many legal systems in former british colonies and continues to shape both content and application of modern laws and regualtions in the british commonealth. However its receptiin abroad raised fundamental issues that in some instances provided seed beds for imperial resentment. This book considers the issue in historical and contemporary contexts.
