Abstract

This paper examines the evolution of the "international environmental agenda" from the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment to the 2005 World Summit. In particular, the paper examines the evolution of environmental protection within the UN system over the past 30 years and the increasing impact of developmental concerns on the global approach(es) to environmental protection.
