Abstract

This article reflects on how more corporations are turning to auctions for disposition strategies regarding surplus real estate. The authors outline why auctions make sense in many cases, what types of auctions can be accomplished and how to outline an effective scope of marketing. There is a discussion on how to select an effective auction strategy. Case studies are presented from successful portfolio auctions for Alcoa and Newell Rubbermaid.
