Abstract

At his death in 1999, England's Lord Denning was eulogized as "the best-loved judge in the whole of our history." Similarly, Justice Benjamin Cardozo has been called "America's best-loved judge." This brief Commentary examines an attribute shared by these two revered judges: a distinctive, storytelling style of opinion writing.
