Abstract

Hedge Funds have become a buzzword in the financial world. A litany of authors have produced thoughts about these collective investment vehicles. Their ideas have led to strong debates about the role and function of hedge funds in financial markets globally.

This article provides a brief but cogent overview of the state of the art literature regarding hedge fund activism in publicly traded companies. The purpose of the article is to shed light on the notion of hedge fund activism and to put the issue in a forward-looking perspective.
