Abstract

Real Estate Auction may be best way to dispose of a real estate asset, whether you are the owner or lender who takes the asset as collateral for the debt.

Part I of the article considers the growth in use of real estate auctions. Part II provides the description of the asset types that are suitable for auction sales, the typical reasons that underlay the decision to use an auction; the characterization of sellers who benefit most from choosing an auction and case studies providing a glimpse of the auction method. Part III is a primer on the auction process. Part IV considers the role of Sellers' attorney as part of the strategic auction team.
