Abstract
Based on interviews with 30 survivors and analysis of prosecution files in the ACT DPP, the article looks at how myths about sexual assault by partners affect the victims’ experiences with the criminal justice system. I suggest specific strategies for survivors, police, prosecutors and support workers to employ in helping to reduce the power of the mythology, which might lead to less attrition through the system and less revictimisation
