Abstract

This article, in a Spanish language version, serves as the introduction to the volume "Derecho Ambiental y Justicia Social" [Environmental Law and Social Justice], published in 2009 by Siglo de los Hombres Publishers and the Universidad de los Andes, Bogota. The evironrmental law addition to their "Nuevo Pensamiento Juridico" [New Legal Thought] series, the introduction aims to identify major themes in environmental law thinking and writing, from law and economics to environmental justice and ecology, over the past 40 years for readers in Latin American interested in but unfamiliar with environmental law. The volume also included versions of articles by Garrett Hardin, Christopher Stone and Carol Rose, edited by the author.
