Abstract
Startups are major contributors in an entrepreneurial economy. It has been now established that leading economies around the globe that have been described to possess entrepreneurial culture, have grown more successfully than those with few or absence of this entrepreneurial capability, which is mandatory to performance. Innovativeness and Innovation emerge as drivers to creation, existence and performance. As a result, emerging economies have now realized deeper potential in harnessing this capability and entrepreneurs are fast emerging with deeper understanding on Opportunity recognition and orientation in establishing their profitable venture. The Objective of this research is to create a map that would link the characteristics of entrepreneurs, firms, products, markets etc. emerging from an established data of around 600 new startups from India. This research includes 50 odd Industries with different market locations and covering across products and services bring out experiences covering various entrepreneurial abilities with complex variables that have been studied. The detailed study covers characteristics of the Firm, Products, Product services, customers, markets and the entrepreneur.
Hence, DNA of the startup firm would essentially bring about the necessary “ingredients” composing a successful startup in a particular industry, business environment etc., and aid the entrepreneur who desires to initiate a new venture in a competitive environment. It will also differentiate between a “successful startup” with a “not so successful startup.” This study would become a proposition, elaborating the specific needs of an entrepreneur to launch a specific product in a specific market or to survive in a specific industry with perquisite characteristics of a firm.
