Abstract
To support investigations into a range of crimes, governments and regulators are requiring mobile operators to register all pre-paid SIM-cards by collecting personal details to be made available in a central database to police and security services. Unregistered SIM-cards are being barred. Brief descriptions are provided of Botswana, Jordan, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, Tanzania and Vietnam.
