Abstract
The European Union-China relationship is one of the most important and least understood relationships in the world today. Where there used to be cooperation between the Chinese and the Europeans, competition has now emerged. This paper aims at understanding the potential of a trade partnership between the European Union (EU) and China. Currently, there are many differences and difficulties between the EU and China in the trade field, some of which are of serious concern to the EU. With this in mind, this paper raises various questions: is the EU an attractive trade partner for China? Does the EU want cooperation with China? What can the EU expect from cooperation with China? What are the EU’s priorities in its foreign trade policy? With which instruments can the EU engage China?
