Abstract

Many Maryland trial lawyers practice in their local jurisdiction's District Court or Circuit Court for their entire careers. They get to know the lay of the land - the individual judges, the local procedures, the clerks and court reporters, etc. However, with increasing frequency, many Maryland lawyers now travel out-of-state and handle cases all over the country. In light of recent trial experiences in western and northern states, some observations may be helpful to those who have yet to venture outside of our friendly borders. Thus, the genesis of this practice tips article.
