This is an introduction to an edition of The Journal of Southern Legal History celebrating the life of Griffin B. Bell. The introduction considers the primary qualities of the judge, qualtiies that can be readily gleaned from the materials in the edition, that made him such a remarkable person. The conversion to PDF was not perfit and anyone desiring a cleaner copy should feel free to contact me or the Journal.
