Abstract

The Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) are designed to respond to the needs for the protection of environment and the conservation of nature. The MEAs have successfully defined profoundly important principles and ideas regarding the protection of environment and the conservation of nature, yet most of the MEAs are not implemented faithfully. In recent days, a new tension on defining and developing a balanced regime between environment and trade is also getting wider attention. This tension is further aggravated by the engagement of states in protecting their short term interests. International organizations too are getting more bureaucratic. They are also engaged in fashionable discourses that often result in lost opportunities. Due to frequent losses of opportunities, the dimension of environmental problem is further aggravated. Nevertheless, the global concern for protecting the environment and the conservation of nature is positively growing at the community level. As a result, each stakeholder is more concerned than ever before. A widespread system of wisdom and knowledge exists out there. The issues of environmental protection and the conservation of nature are getting more prominent place than ever before. Hope, some tangible improvements, will be achieved in the future in regard to making the MEAs effective and enforceable.
