Abstract
Retirement plan leakage refers to any situation where funds accumulated in a private retirement plan (including both employer-sponsored plans and IRAs) are withdrawn from the plan and spent before retirement. This article discusses the problem and a 2009 report (the GAO Report) issued by the General Accountability Office (GAO).
