Abstract
The authors discuss ethical issues related to the representation of unmarried couples, and examine various charitable gift planning tools and the objectives that they accomplish, with an emphasis on their use in connection with planning for the unmarried couple, and in particular the same-sex couple. Scenarios examined include charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, charitable gift annuities, pooled income funds, remainder interests in personal residences and simple wills.
