Abstract
The essay looks at the significance of choosing days of rest in multicultural societies, and the difficulties that relate to this choice in a shared public space. Respect for cultures may demand a deviation from the liberal ideal of integration. In addition, the relationships between cultures and religious heritages and freedom of and from religion are explored.
