Abstract
Virtual reality (VR) is not defined by a particular technology, but rather by user experience. VR is a cluster of interactive technologies and techniques that give users a compelling sensation of presence, of being inside a circumambient environment created by a computer. The development of the technology is influenced by a simple but powerful idea about how to best present information: Designers reason if the human senses have evolved to interact with the physical world, then information will be easier to perceive and understand if it simulates the perceptual properties of the physical world. Virtual reality designers hope to create the ultimate, natural interface - one that will augment human training, performance, and intelligence. while VR has great promise as a training tool, many in the film, amusement park, and game industry see it as the "future of fun,' a powerful medium to deliver new, interactive, eye-popping, and bone-jarring entertainment.
Keywords: Virtual Reality, VR, interface design, interactive technologies, intuitive interface, interaction, natural interface, human training, intelligence augmentation, gaming, future of fun
