Abstract

This Article is a tribute to John Edward Cribbet, former Dean of the Law School and Chancellor at the University of Illinois. I believe that beyond family and friends, three concepts were important to this extraordinary educator and property law scholar: (1) place matters, (2) stories matter, and (3) change matters. I will examine each of these influences on Dean Cribbet and on his writings. The Article will be published in a Symposium dedicated to Dean Cribbet entitled, "Changing Conceptions of Water in the Law," forthcoming in the Marquette Law Review.

Keywords: Cribbet, property, changing concepts, water law
