Abstract
This article was the Introductory Address for a law review symposium about Justice Clarence Thomas's twenty years on the U.S. Supreme Court. The article focuses on the academic and media reaction to Justice Thomas over the years and suggests that the law professoriate is much more fair minded about the Court's most controversial justice than it initially was but that, unfortunately, the mainstream media still tends to default to superficial and inappropriate ad hominem attacks.
