Abstract

This essay responds to Professor Elizabeth Glazer's article entitled Sexual Reorientation by considering the framework that Professor Colker suggested in 1996 in her book entitled Hybrid: Bisexuals, Multiracials and Other Misfits Under American Law. The essay argues that Professor Glazer does not sufficiently consider sexual orientation "resisters" and sexual orientation "tilters" who might feel uncomfortable with the role that biological sex plays in her proposed framework. The essay argues that one should define sexual orientation in relationship to society rather than as a biologically innate facet of one's life.

Keywords: sexual orientation, bisexuality, discrimination

JEL Classification: K39
