Abstract

This chapter in a book about California Supreme Court Justice Jesse Carter comments on the Justice’s dissent in a case involving use of the exclusionary rule. Justice Carter’s dissent called for the exclusion of evidence obtained in violation of the defendant’s constitutional rights. Thirteen years later, the California Supreme Court adopted this position. Justice Carter graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1913.
