Abstract

This briefing note sets out disclosure expectations on farm animal welfare for companies in the food and related sectors. The disclosure framework has been based on a review of current reporting practice (both on farm animal welfare in particular and corporate responsibility more generally), on our understanding of investors and other stakeholders’ expectations of corporate responsibility reporting, and on the experience of the Food Business team at Compassion in World Farming which has been evaluating the farm animal welfare performance of food companies for over ten years.

Keywords: Farm animal welfare, socially responsible investment, reporting, corporate responsibility
