Abstract

Introduction to Contracts, 2nd Edition demystifies contract law without resorting to legalese, extensive and often confusing case analysis, and lengthy case citations. Ideal for law students, and non-commercial lawyers, it provides a big-picture understanding of how contract law functions in Canada’s common law jurisdictions, and relates to other areas of law, such as torts and restitution. Case coverage focuses exclusively on leading cases to avoid the confusion arising from too much dense detail.

The new edition addresses recent Supreme Court of Canada decisions as well a important decisions from other courts in Canada and England. It includes new chapters on estoppels, performance and discharge of the contract, and new charts setting out the time frames which apply to important issues relating to contracts and how various doctrines (such as rescission, termination, voidness, frustration, and unenforceability) affect the contract.
