Using Wordscores in R: A Step by Step Guide

Abstract

Wordscores is a method to predict (for example) party positions from text. Most commonly, this is done in Stata, but it can be done using free software (R, Austin, JFreq). This paper provides a step by step guide for running Wordscores in R. For the interpretation of the results and methodological aspects of Wordscores, the reader is referred to other texts.
