Abstract

This article presents a summary of a recent research study into the impact of copyright law on the digitisation projects of New Zealand museums. The article suggests changes to the Copyright Act 1994 that would permit museums to better achieve their objectives using digital technologies. In addition, the suggested changes have the potential to address the gap between practice and the law revealed by the research.
