Abstract
Processes in healthcare are very complex and dynamic, thus making it difficult to identify and understand ongoing activities. Many approaches have been developed to simplify and abstract these complex processes in models, but most results are not satisfying, either for practitioners or researchers. This paper describes current efforts in healthcare modelling approaches and rates the models based on their ability to support the demands of different stakeholders. Further, we present a new domain oriented modelling approach to abstract healthcare processes in a new way - clear, homogenous, and consistent; in this way the demands of different stakeholders can be supported and the models from different modellers can be combined into one big picture. Finally, this paper presents an outlook on further developments and application areas for the new approach.
