Abstract

This essay, by Linda Malone, looks at the international reaction to the mass rapes taking place in Bosnia, the case of In re Kasinga, and subsequent growths inside of international law to offer background for a discussion regarding progress to the international response about sexual violence against women. International outrage over sexual violence to women is justified morally, but historically has not been. Recent events, such as the mass rapes in Bosnia, have shed light onto the deficiencies in international law for effectively dealing with sexual violence against women.
