Abstract
A paper on the impact of tax rates on economic growth from the Congressional Research Service was recently withdrawn under pressure from Republicans on Capitol Hill. The resulting furor led the paper to receive far more attention than would have been the case had Republicans simply ignored it. This article details the origins and development of this event.
