Abstract

For the first time in History, Washington believed, under the government of G.W. Bush, that the whole world became its backyard. The second Iraq war showed that President Bush was living in a crusade world, where U.S. mission was to fight the “Evil”, and to pursuit this aim Washington was decided to transform the world, at least the Third World, into its sphere of influence. The present unipolarity in the world politics leads us to consider the “Latin Americanization” of the globe as a serious danger for the humankind at the beginning of the 21st. century.

The present historical situation, marked by unipolarity, should be assessed in the context of the critical development of the U.S. hegemony. Accordingly, it is my aim in the following pages to submit to discussion some considerations concerning the process of reconstruction of the U.S.-hegemony basing on the theoretical approach knew as the “Italian School” of international relations. Therefore, I briefly explain the main concepts of this approach and try to use them to analyze the crisis and reconstruction of the U.S.-hegemony.
