Abstract
Microbial resistance to antibiotics, a process known in the last two decades of rapid growth and uncontrolled worldwide, is widely accepted today as one of the major public health problems worldwide. It is manifested by severity of infections or extension of clinical symptoms, increasing systemic infections with high mortality, increased hospital stays and, not least, the costs imposed by them.
A key role in the emergence and development of bacterial resistance to antibiotics it is genetic variability. It is the result of one of the following events: genetic mutation or transfer of genetic material between organisms by transformation or conjugation, respectively tranducţie transposition. In this paper we present some of the mechanisms involved in genetically the emergence and development of bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
