Abstract

This work is set out to look at the challenges of the ministry of Niger Delta in view of the fact that the Region has some years been agitating for resource control resulting in extra-judicial executions, arbitrary detentions, and draconian restrictions on the rights to freedom of expression, association and assembly. In the course of this study, we employed the convenience sampling technique and the research instruments used were mainly faily closed-ended questionnaires. Also data were gotten through personal interview and discussion desk interview with some management staff of relevant companies and institutions. Data collected from both primary and secondary sources were analysed using chi-square, spearman rank correlation coefficient, percentages, frequency tables, normal distribution analysis and graphs. We postulated three hypotheses and the results of the test revealed that there is positive and significant relationship between resource control and militancy in the Nigeria Delta Region on one hand and between the performance of ministry of Niger Delta and the development of the region on another hand.
