Abstract

The establishment of public procurement unit in government establishment has helped to minimize cost of doing business, thereby making fund available for economic development and growth. The long duration of corrupt practices in Nigeria has sadly changed peoples’ moral orientation and this necessitated this study. The objective is to find out the extent anti corruption commissions have helped to reduce fraud and corruption in the public sector. The data lot this study were collected from primary and secondary sources and the research instrument used was the questionnaire. Data generated were tabulated and analysed using frequency tables, percentages, Z-test statistics and Spearman Rank order correlation co-efficient (R). From the result of the test on the hypothesis, it was discovered that anti corruption agencies have helped to reduce corruption in the public sector. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended that government should strengthen the anti corruption and law enforcement agencies in order to step up effort to fight corruption. Also it is recommended that proper and honest prosecution of public office holders would serve as deterrent.
