Abstract
This seminar discusses practical matters that arise when lawyers are preparing appeal cases. The seminar first lays out the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeal and the different matters that may be appealed. The types of appeals discussed are appeals on points of law, judgments concerning the exercise of discretion, interlocutory injunctions and policy issues. The seminar then addresses the steps involved in getting a case to the Court of Appeal, preparing for a hearing and the conduct expected in the appeal itself. The seminar ends with two case studies to help illustrate the points raised.
