Habilidades Cognitivas, Comprometimento com a Profissão e Decisões Sobre Alocação de Recursos (Cognitive Abilities, Professional Commitment and Decisions on Resources Allocation)

Abstract

Este trabalho verificou de que forma o comprometimento com a profissão impacta as decisões de alocação de recursos a projetos organizacionais, considerando-se as preferências intertemporais dos decisores. Cenários foram delineados para mensurar a capacidade cognitiva dos respondentes e para identificar suas preferências relacionadas à alocação de recursos em decisões orçamentárias. Em seguida, buscou-se verificar se a variável interveniente “comprometimento com a ocupação” (MEYER; ALLEN; SMITH, 1993) influencia as escolhas intertemporais dos respondentes. A pesquisa foi realizada junto a uma amostra formada por 125 estudantes de pós-graduação em Salvador, Bahia, inscritos em diferentes cursos. A regressão logística múltipla foi utilizada para a análise dos dados, indicando que o comprometimento com a profissão e com a carreira não influencia as decisões de alocação de recursos a projetos organizacionais, considerando-se as preferências intertemporais dos respondentes. Verificou-se, adicionalmente, que quanto maior o nível de habilidade cognitiva dos respondentes menor o comprometimento afiliativo com a profissão e com a carreira.

This study examined how the professional commitment impacts the decisions of resource allocation in organizational projects, considering the intertemporal preferences of decision makers. Scenarios were designed to measure the cognitive ability of respondents and to identify their preferences related to resource allocation in budget decisions. Next, we sought to determine whether the intervening variable commitment to the occupation (MEYER; ALLEN; SMITH, 1993) influences the intertemporal choices of respondents. The survey was conducted with a sample consisting of 125 students graduate in Salvador, Bahia, enrolled in different courses. Multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the data, indicating that professional and carrier commitment does not influence the decisions on resources allocation to organizational projects, considering the intertemporal preferences of managers. We sought, additionally, that the higher the level of cognitive ability of respondents less is affiliative commitment to the profession and to the carrier.
