Abstract

In India, huge progress has been witnessed in the dairy, poultry, fruits and vegetables arena. But as far as cold chain storage is concerned, India lags behind several generations when compared with similar supply chains of the developed world. Further, it is no longer sufficient for any organisation to operate in isolation, although it may be efficiently doing its core business. To excel, it must integrate its supply chain in its core business strategy. In line with above idea, the research paper attempts to develop a strategy for Indian marketers of perishable commodities. This strategy is developed according to the Indian market conditions and is inspired from strategies followed by Walmart in facilitating efficient management of inventory.
