Abstract
The objective of this paper is to study the missing girls (female foeticide) in India from psychosocial, historical, legal and economic perspectives. The gendercide is the lethal consequence of social-cultural prejudice against girls/women. Such prejudice is almost always deeply embedded in social, cultural, political and economic factors. The present research aims to explore the relevant data and revisit the socio-cultural historical factors along with analysis of legal and economic perspectives in female foeticide in India.
