Abstract

The article catalogues the growing body of scholarship that demonstrates the significant educational benefits of diversity and integration in higher education and in elementary and secondary schools. The benefits include improved academic achievement, employment opportunities, and civic values. The article also analyzes the legal ramifications of the research and demonstrates it is sufficient to justify, under strict scrutiny, schools taking steps to integrate and diversify their student bodies.
