Abstract

This case discusses a semiconductor firm’s challenge of planning production and allocation of resources across different product lines. The case is amenable for illustrating how linear programming could be useful for planning and how to determine key factors/costs/tradeoffs driving production decisions. It is a good replacement for the classic but the outdated Red Brand Canners case.

Keywords: Production planning, product portfolio, linear programming, resource allocation, semiconductor
