Abstract

Provides a systematic analysis of the law and procedure of the first international court created in response to a terrorist act: the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, established to try those responsible for the 2005 assassination of Rafic Hariri. Assesses in detail the Tribunal's controversial establishment, its rules of procedure, its relationship with the UN, and its contentious first decisions. Includes contributions from several practitioners with first-hand experience of the Tribunal, as well as many eminent scholars of international criminal law.
