NOTE: This is a description of the paper and is not the actual abstract.
The paper looks at the impacts of trade liberalization on Brazilian manufacturing industry over the 1989-96 period. The aim is to assess the technical efficiency and allocative effects of the liberalization. The results obtained suggest that the impacts were, generally, positive and consistent with both the predictions of the international trade literature and the pattern of Brazil's industrialization.
