Abstract
This note describes Pricewaterhouse Coopers' Accelerated Transition approach to integrating mergers. Steps include value driver analysis, communication, stakeholder support, execution, organizational alignment, blending cultures, and establishing incentives to achieve economic value. Students can follow key features of the process such as identifying and quantifying sources of value from the merger and moving quickly. The note can be used following UVA-BP-0426, Kellog-Worthington Merger, and with UVA-BP-0428, Albany-Geschmay Merger, to demonstrate how the accelerated transition methodology is applied.

NOTE ON THE ACCELERATED TRANSITION
This technical note outlines PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) merger integration process. Known as the Accelerated Transition, it is a proprietary process used in PwC's mergers and acquisitions consulting practice. The information contained in this note was derived from PwC's 1999 book, Five Frogs on a Log and other information provided to the Darden School by PwC.
