Abstract

This article briefly discusses the use of transnational law in courses that focus on regulation of the police (usually called something like Criminal Procedure - Police Practices, or Constitutional Criminal Procedure). The first section of this article summarizes some interesting examples of transnational law relating to police practices in five areas: perspectives on the police, search and seizure, undercover investigations, interrogation, and remedies. The second section describes specific pedagogical techniques one can use to explore these issues.

Keywords: comparative law, search & seizure, interrogation, exclusionary rule, police, European criminal procedure
