About SSRN and Social Science Electronic Publishing, Inc. (SSEP)

SSRN is operated by SSEP. SSRN began in 1992 when Wayne Marr began the formation of the Financial Economic Network (FEN) to connect finance scholars and professionals throughout the world. In 1993, Michael C. Jensen joined Wayne in creating email announcement journals to distribute scholarship prior to formal publication. The effort gradually expanded to include accounting, economics, law, and other networks. The current governance structure of SSEP is:

Bernard Black - Managing Director of SSRN and the Legal Scholarship Network (LSN)

We are convinced there is a need for electronic distribution and publication of quality academic and professional scholarship and related materials in economics, business, information systems and the social sciences. Faculty members, business leaders and technical professionals are demanding research materials on a convenient and timely basis. SSEP is committed to providing such materials and services at the lowest possible cost.
