Abstract

Faced with ever-changing threats, the defence of an organisation and all of its stakeholders is becoming an increasingly difficult task. More and more corporate strategists are now of the opinion that traditional narrow and reactive strategies are no longer considered adequate or sustainable, if organisations are to defend their stakeholders interests into the future. Earlier parts to this paper have already outlined some of the developments currently occurring in defence related activities in the corporate world. Parts 1 and 2 of this paper specifically addressed the convergence of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) management, and the integrations, unifications and alignments also occurring within the related areas of Intelligence, Security and Resilience. Part 3 examined the integral roles of Controls and Assurance and how the common objectives of all of these defence related activities can be aligned by increased cross-functional synthesis and synchronisation.
