Abstract

This article asserts that relationship skills are not only key to a successful law practice, they are crucial to actually enjoying the practice of law. The author's class, Interpersonal Dynamics for Attorneys, is designed to help law students develop the kinds of relationship skills that they will need to both succeed in and relish the practice of law. The article notes that students who take the class learn to share their impressions of each other, and have others either confirm or deny the accuracy of these impressions. When students realize how often their conclusions about their classmates are wrong or incomplete, they become motivated to actually listen to others and communicate more clearly and honestly.

Keywords: legal education, Interpersonal Dynamics
