Abstract

The rapidly ageing population, both worldwide and in Singapore, has raised many vital issues and impending problems that follow. This exploratory research paper, using focus group research, looks into the general preparedness level and attitude of Singaporean workers towards preparing for their golden years ahead. Other areas of concern are possible obstacles that may affect their decision in doing something about their retirement, including the possible reliance on the nationally-defined contribution programme, the Central Provident Fund. A highlight on understanding both the benefits and significance of retirement planning is also discussed.

Keywords: Retirement, Singapore, aging population
