Abstract

This case series, labeled A through D, UVA-PHA-0018, UVA-PHA-0019, UVA-PHA-0020, and UVA-PHA-0023, allows the reader to see three teaching-related vignettes as handled by two different instructors. In the A case, Rick Hartman, a doctoral student taking a course in pedagogy, is teaching a continuing-education course in general management with some of his classmates for members of the community. Halfway through the course, as class is about to begin, he is confronted by a registered student who is attending for the first time and is complaining about not receiving some materials that were handed out in class the previous week.
