Abstract

An approach to defining actionability as a measure ofinterestingness of patterns is proposed. This approachis based on the concept of an action hierarchy whichis defined as a tree of actions with patterns and patterntemplates (data mining queries) assigned to itsnodes. A method for discovering actionable patternsis presented and various techniques for optimizing thediscovery process are proposed.
